Sometimes, when you’re going through a change you’ve committed to, it can feel incredibly difficult, like you’re climbing a mountain that you can’t reach the top of. You might even start questioning the journey you’ve embarked on. Was it really worth it? Am I going to reach my goal? Why did I start in the first place?

Have you ever felt like this? I think most people have. While change can be an exciting time, it can also feel exhausting. If your new path feels heavy, you might find this post on learning to receive helpful.

One of the key questions to ask yourself is: Why did I decide to do this in the first place? Often, remembering why can be a strong motivator for continuing.

Then ask yourself: Do those reasons still stand today? If the answer is yes, it can help anchor you in your decision and keep you moving forward, rather than swinging back and forth. If the reason no longer holds relevance for you, that alone can be a prompt to consider whether the path you're on is still right for you.

Take career change as an example. Perhaps you’ve started a new path, and it’s proving to be more difficult than expected. Take a moment to reflect on your reasons why you decided to change careers. Everyone has their own. Was it to:

* Move into a field you’re passionate about?

* Leave one that no longer fit?

* Follow someone else’s expectations?

* Find more purpose or joy in your work?

Going back to the grassroots of why you decided on something new can bring clarity. It can help you decide whether you want to continue down the current path or consider a new one. And sometimes, it can simply offer you peace of mind; a reprieve from the endless cycle of second-guessing yourself.
